Post: Benefits Of Writing For Us

If you are interested in writing for mycyc.com, here are some of the benefits that you could receive. As always anyone is welcomed to apply, just as long as your aged between 13 - 19 and have an interest in writing.

All registered members can now post to the main blog, please note it may take 24/48 hours for your post to be moderated.

What skills do i need?

If you have a skill other than anything mentioned, and you feel it could be an asset to this site, feel free to contact us and we can discuss it further.

To write to the sites blog you will need a general interest in some form of writing plus at least one of the following;

  • An interest in writing articles
  • An interest in writing reviews (book, film, music, game & gadget reviews)
  • An interest in writing poetry and/or short stories

If you want to help with the development of the site, you will need some of the following;

  • Web development (php/css & wordpress knowledge)
  • Web design (photoshop/fireworks knowledge)
  • Web site Promotion (sending emails, communicating with other sites etc)
  • Forum Staff (ensure the forum is run smoothly and kept active)

What’s In It For Me?

We appreciate the great effort and time that you give to this site, and nothing will go un-rewarded, however at this moment in time, we cannot offer payment for your time in cash. We can however offer you a bunch of other stuff, that normal members cannot receive. These include:

  • Free hosting - if you want your own website/blog/page we can help you set that up and host it for free.
  • Instant access to freebies - unlike normal members you will gain instant access (upon appointment) to our ever expanding freebies section. Freebies are now free for everyone via the teen forums.
  • Web development - if you already have a website, we can help you get the most out of it and teach you how to properly promote, develop and maintain it.
  • Something for your CV - potential employers are always looking for trustworthy employees, and nothing looks better on a CV than voluntary work.

As well as the above, you will get to work with a team of enthusiastic young writers, who you can share ideas with and even learn new techniques from. You will also get your own authors page such as the one itabitha has.

In addition to that, you will also be working on the site, sharing our vision (and injecting your own ideas) which will help us come closer towards our goal of becoming the place for teens. You always have the potential of being noticed by a potential employer, which could lead to a paid career for you.
