Post: Getting a job at 15? Don’t count on it!

For those of you lucky enough to be over this horrendous age, let me share with you a dilemma common to teens. You see, I was born in the beautiful month of August. Although its in the summertime, my birthday comes at a horrible time. You see, this summer won’t be old enough to get a “real” job, but my birthday allows me to join the 11th year. So I’ll technically be old enough to go to school, but too young to get a job. While everyone else is enjoying the fruits of their wealthy glory, I will be sitting around with little to no funds (family’s dirt poor).

Is there a way to overcome? Well, there is one way: just wait!
Seriously, I’m spending all this time trying to grow up, I should just bask in the time I have left as a kid. As all kids and teens should. Yeah, there are limitations, but they are what make growing up so worthwhile. Without them, I would have nothing to look forward to.

So, as I sit here with my out of date clothing and homemade jewelery, I may not like my current situation, but hey, at least it’s temporary.

    i no the feeling my birthday is also in august (16th), you could always try a paper-round or something.

    the laws for your country may be different but here

    At 15 (until school leaving age);

    * You can work up to 8 hours on a Saturday or any day in the school holidays, but must have a rest break of 1 hour if you work for 4 hours at once.
    * You can work up to 2 hours on a Sunday.
    * You must take a 2 week break during the year - and in your holiday time.
