Post: How To Get Yourself On The Web - Buying A Name

If you have ever wondered what it takes to get yourself on the web, hopefully this article will enlighten you.

Most teens create pages on sites such as piczo, myspace and facebook, although in technical terms, these are web pages, you cannot really class these as websites. If you are serious about getting your own website up and running, you will need most of the following (they are listed in no particular order).

Choosing A Domain Name

For those that do not know, the domain name is the bit your type into your Internet browser, when you wish to visit a website. For e.g. to reach this site you would type in mycyc.com (or www.mycyc.com, however the www. part is not important).

The domain name is super-important as it much be easy to remember (what good is a name no one can pronounce?), usually the shorter it is the better and the domain name should not be offensive to anyone.

  • Want to holiday in Lake Tahoe? Try their brochure website. (www.gotahoe.com)

So remember, take your time to fully think about what name you want, do let it be a part of the 10 worst domain in the future.
