Post: My 10 New Releases (The Good & The Bad)

Here are this months newest releases (on DVD), from my list of new releases i have picked 5 good and 5 bad (based on ratings out of 10).

The first 5 are probably worth watching, however i would steer clear of the last 5 (unless someone else is paying)

All the below can be brought and rented online from lovefilm.com* (starting at £4.99 a month)

The Good (7.0 >> 10)

Ratatouille - A rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great French chef despite his family’s wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. (7.8/10)

The War On Democracy - Award winning journalist John Pilger examines the role of Washington in America’s manipulation of Latin American politics during the last 50 years, and how these same policies are now being used in the Middle East. (7.2/10)

Control - A profile of Ian Curtis (Riley), the enigmatic singer of Joy Division whose personal, professional, and romantic troubles led him to commit suicide at the age of 23. (7.9/10)

Atonement - Fledgling writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister’s (Keira Knightley) lover (James McAvoy) of a crime he did not commit. Based on the British romance novel by Ian McEwan. (7.5/10)

3:10 To Juma - A small-time rancher agrees to hold a captured outlaw who’s awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher. (7.5/10)

The Bad (6.0 >> 0.00)

Nancy Drew - Nancy Drew follows Nancy (Emma Roberts) as she accompanies her father, Carson (Tate Donovan), to Los Angeles on one of his business trips and stumbles across evidence about a long-unsolved crime involving the mysterious death of a beautiful movie star. (5.5/10)

The Last Legion - The Empire is being held to ransom by the Barbarians. On the eve of the coronation of the 12-year-old Romulus Augustus, his mentor, the shaman Ambrosinus (Ben Kingsley), predicts disaster. (5.7/10)

Cocaine Cowboys - The cocaine trade of the 70s and 80s had an indelible impact on contemporary Miami. Smugglers and distributors forever changed a once sleepy retirement community into one of the world’s most glamorous hot spots; the epicenter of a $20 billion annual business fed by Colombia’s Medellin cartel. (5.9/10)

Infinite Justice - An American reporter is held hostage by Muslim fundamentalists in Karachi against the release of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay. (4.6/10)

Air Buddies - Everyone’s favorite sports-playing golden retriever is back — and he’s the father of five adorable puppies who set off on a daring rescue mission to save their parents. (5.3/10)
