Post: Summer Sunshine

My mom and dad have decided to rent a cabin at this very chic resort, and we’re gonna go there soon, along with a bunch of other families. I’m going to work on a nice deep tan, and let condition my hair. Also, I’m going to show off the new midriff I’ve been working on for weeks. Sad face, I’ll miss Eric, and I don’t know whether they’ll be internet access there so we can talk online without any interuptions.

My friend Regan asked me if we’ve “done it” yet, and I told her it was none of her business. She assumed that that meant yes and it does not. It doesn’t mean that we’ve had sex. We haven’t. We’ve talked about it, but I told him I didn’t think I wanted to “give him my hankerchief”, as Reg says, at least not at the sweet and tender age of sixteen. Keep your morals in check people.

I love summer. It’s so hot and I get to swim. I love swimming, it’s the Aussie in me, I guess (my family’s pretty much International-ese). I don’t mean “swimming” the way girls normally do, getting a floaty, putting on an expensive bikini and sunglasses, and floating on the water with a pile of Cosmo magazine (that sounds rewarding though). I mean, freestyle, breast stroke, back stroke and butterfly float swimming, where you don’t stop and pant after a length–you break, two foot and push off.

I bet you have no idea what that means.

    We’re not going anywhere this summer.
    We are next year though.

    It’s hard going away because we have a dog. And since my mother fell out with my nan, we’ve got no-one to look after the dog.
    Plus we have two hamsters, two fish and a bird to think of too.
