Post: The Dark Knight

Wow.

Last night I went to the movies with a few friends and saw the new Batman movie.  Going in, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, because the hype was insane.  I didn’t know if the movie could live up to my high expectations.  But not only did it do that, it shattered them in a fast-paced, action-packed, somewhat comedic and twistedly clever fashion.  Looking back, there is very little that can be criticized about this epic adventure.  It effectively combines love, conflict, morality, and madness into one hell of a 2 and a half hour feature film.

To start, the acting in this movie was absolutely phenomenal.  Each sane character was very relatable, and even the insane ones had a hint of familiarity.  This movie dug deeper than just a plot, it played around with the social fabric of our present society and our current state of morality and hope.  Sure, Bruce Wayne is the main character of this movie, but as the film progresses, you feel increasingly like the film is about discovering oneself and a sense of morality.

Compiled with the fantastic script, acting, directing, and special effects, this movie could not have come at a better time.  The United States is in a state of war, food and gas prices are increasing, and in our present time of confusion and uncertainty, everyone is desperately groping for answers in the darkness.  This movie effectively instills a sense of hope in the human race, and sends a message that runs deeper than the initial 5 minute talk after the movie with your friends.  The Dark Knight is an incredible movie that will be looked upon by generations as a bat-shaped beacon of light in the sky, inspiring what is good and true in humanity.
