Post: True Confessions
My friend Sydnee recently moved closer to me, so now we walk home together.
On Friday, I went to her locker to wait for her at lunch, because I usually hang out with her and Eva or Reba during lunch. We walk to the mall or something, even when we have no money on us. So she was at her locker, and Eva came and joined us. Eva and Sydnee were reallt close friends before I came. Eva said her head hurt, so she didn’t want to go far off today, so as good friends, we said we would stay too. But I had a dollar fifty, so I said I’d go and get us some sodas.
When I came out, they were gone. I looked for them for a couple of minutes, but then I gave up and went to hang out with Riley and Lor, etc. I saw them far off laughing their heads off, and I told R and L what happened. (I have a lot of friends, so if half the school was absent, I’d still have people to chill with.) They agreed that that was tres bitch-ay, and we went to the mall and stuff.
After lunch, we were watching a movie. R and L are pretty popular (I don’t mean like a clique of popular girls. I mean that they have lots of friends and people like them and want to be their friends, that’s all.) so I was sitting with a lot of really cool people. It was so fun. Sydnee can be a bit of a kiss-up, she watches too many bad teen movies, so she came and sat next to me and laughed at something totally random, which she hadn’t heard. She was all flippin her hair and stuff, trying to work it. Everybody stopped laughing and just stared at her, and we all got up and moved. Even she didn’t think to follow.
It was a great day, all cloudy and warm (yes, here that is a great day). I was walking home with Imelda and Peter, but they live a block away from me and we had to break away. Sydnee was waiting for me. (I can remember most of it, except it does get mixed up in places. You get the general drift.)
“Hi, Skimmy. (That’s what she calls me sometimes.)
“What do you want?”
“Are you mad at me?”
“Are you incredibly thick? Yes, duh.”
“Why?”
“You totally just ditched me at lunch. God, that’s so second grade.”
“It was Eva’s idea.”
“With risk of sounding like your mother, bridge metaphor?”
“Okay. Eva doesn’t like you. She thinks you’re too promiscuous.”
“How?”
“Like they way you act, and dress and stuff.”
“Dress?” (Gesture at my very Levi jeans, my white shirt, my black cardi and my white Superstars with black stripes.) Dress?”
“Like, you dress like you’re all pretty or something.”
“Dressing to look my best isn’t being promiscuous. Does she know what the word means, or did she just get it from the song?”
“Ugh. Um, okay. And you like boys too much, or they like you too much.”
“I’m a teenage girl, I do like boys. So?”
“Well, Steven (Eva’s boyfriend, lovelies) says that you’re cute and that since you and Lealand broke up…”
“How is this my fault?”
“God, Skye, let somebody else have a chance at a guy. Whole-lee.” Holy dragged out.
“Sydnee, are these Eva’s feelings or yours?”
Long silence, interrupted by the shout of “Hi, Skye!” from my friend. Male. Not a good time.
“See?”
“Look, I’m not going to dress dowdy or geeky or something just because people find me…attractive. Eva is just going to have to take me as I am, or not, and you. Are. Just, a dissapointment. This is my place.” I go into the building and close the door. When I turn around Sydnee’s gone.

Hey
So, I think these girls that ditched you… Well you should just forget about them!
They have obviously been bitching about you behind your back. And you DON’T need friends like that.
Sounds like this Eva chick is jealous.
As for being called ‘promiscuous’ - well I think they just learnt that word of the Nelly Furtardo song and been like “Omg! We should, like, totally, like, start using this word! [[giggle]]”
You say you have a lot of friends, so just hang out with people that respect you, and not backstab you.
Hope that helped!
