Post: Youth Work

The past is the past, the future has yet to happen and the present is being lived. The world stops for no one, giving up is not an option, and the odds are against you. How do you go from underdog to top of the world?

Over the last 6 months i have learnt a very important lesson about life, nothing in life comes for free, nothing is ever given to you on a plate and dreams can come true if you continue to try.

No matter how bad things are, no matter how sad you feel and no matter what other people say about you, you are the one that is important. If you fail to reach your dreams, it is because you gave up and not because you did’nt get accepted, If you fail to be the best you can, it is because you did’nt try hard enough and not because of something that happened to you years ago. If you want to survive in this world you have to work hard, stay positive and be yourself.

I’ve been through a lot in my life, but with my ability to remain on top and my determination to prove the world of haters wrong, i have successfully given my life a meaning.

I dropped out of school at 15, with no work experience and no GCSE’s, but did that stop me from being who i wanted to be? HELL NO!! I left school with a body full of anger, a world of hate and with no career prospects.

I used what i enjoyed (music) to help me through hard times, and also used it to get my career moving (i started dj’ing on a local youth radio station). Although i did not fully push my dj’ing career forward, it opened me to a whole new world. While on radio, me and my mate (we worked as a team) learned a lot about the technical side of radio (setting up equipment etc) and we often ended up helping out down the station (either covering slots or helping the new ones learn the ropes).

This led me into the world of youth work, i started helping out at a local youth club as a volunteer. (This will continue in my next post)
