Post: Movie Review: Prom Night

Hey all, it’s Sam. Last night I went to see Prom Night. WOW.

Let’s start off with a summary (there really isn’t much to summarize). It starts out with a girl who sees her family get killed by this stalker teacher. The police come but it’s too late; she’s the only survivor. Flash-forward to prom day in her senior year of high school. She’s living with her aunt and uncle who let her go to her prom with her boy friend and a few friends. Guess who decides to crash the party? Yep, that’s right; it’s crazy teacher stalker guy. He’s miraculously escaped prison, killed a guy and stole his car, and managed to get a hair cut ad a shave all in the process. And the detectives in the girl’s town are alerted 3 days after the fact. Yeah. This is really what happened.

As you can already tell, this film was… well, just like any other teen horror flick. There was the teen protagonist who witnessed a murder in her past and is haunted by it; there’s the teenage friends who just get picked off one by one; you have your incompetent police and detective force; and there’s the invincible creepy killer guy who just won’t go away. Typical scary movie formula really.

I don’t know, maybe it was the expectable acting by Brittany Snow’s character, or the outright crappy-ness of the plot. Even Johnathan Schaech’s creepy (but oddly entrancing)  antagonist couldn’t redeem this poor excuse.

le crux: I wouldn’t see this for free, and I definitely wouldn’t pay money to go see this. The soundtrack’s pretty hot hough, but that’s the only thing that stands out from this film. Rent Amityville Horror, Halloween, Nghtmare on Elmstreet, or anything that’s not this movie.

I hate horror movies, but the plot of the Prom Night movie seems to be very interesting.

I will wait to see the reaction from the viewers!
